ImagineArts

What is ImagineArts?

Evidence-based ways to draw more life from music, art, story, stage and screen. We teach short practices across eight arts: music, visual arts, literature and poetry, theatre, film, history, philosophy and the sacred arts. ImagineArts runs on the FlourishIQ platform and is built by Dr Alten du Plessis.

Do I need to know anything about the arts?

No. Nothing is graded and no talent is required. The course is written for beginners and lifelong lovers alike: start with the art you love, or the one you always wished you understood.

Is this therapy?

No. These are wellbeing practices, not therapy, and nothing here treats depression, anxiety or any other condition. If you need care, please see a health professional. The Evidence page sets out what the research does and does not show.

The Salon

What is the Salon?

Membership of ImagineArts. It brings together the full Flourish Through the Arts course, the ImagineArts community (the Foyer, the Gallery Wall and eight art rooms), the Salon library of every verified quote with your own journal, your ImagineArts dashboard, and the books at the member price.

What does it cost?

R99 a month or R999 a year. The Full House is R1,099 for the first year: the annual Salon plus both editions of the daily reader, English and Afrikaans. It renews at R999 a year. Prices are in South African rand; see Pricing.

Can I buy the course on its own?

No. Flourish Through the Arts is taken in the Salon, because the course, the community and the library are designed to be used together over time. Festivals, schools and institutions can arrange access for their own people through Editions.

How do I log in?

With the email address and password you chose when you joined: log in here. ImagineArts runs on the FlourishIQ platform, so the login page is on flourishiq.co.za and takes you straight to your ImagineArts dashboard.

How do I cancel?

Open My Salon membership from your ImagineArts dashboard and press Cancel my Salon membership. PayFast stops the subscription at once, you will not be charged again, and you keep full access to the end of the month or year you have already paid for. You can also email support@flourishiq.co.za.

Can I get a refund?

Everything we sell is digital and reaches you at once, so purchases are generally final. If you were charged twice or in error, or a fault on our side stops you using what you paid for and we cannot fix it, we refund it. Part of a month or year already paid is not refunded. The details are in our refund terms.

How will the charge appear on my statement?

Card payments are processed by PayFast, and the charge appears as FlourishTalk, our parent company.

The course

How is the course organised?

Nine modules: a foundation module, The Imaginative Life, and one module for each of the eight arts. There are 28 guided practices in all, each with its own audio guide, and every module has its Foundation Notes and an Open Doors sheet of free resources. See the course, module by module.

How much time does it take?

Each practice takes a few minutes. Nothing is locked by week: begin with the foundation, then take the arts in any order and at your own pace.

Which languages?

The course and the community are in English. The daily reader comes in English and Afrikaans, and the Salon library and our free quote explorers carry both English and Afrikaans voices.

The Salon library

What is the Salon library?

The whole ImagineArts quote collection, more than 1,200 verified quotes in English and Afrikaans, with filters by art, theme and voice. Many quotes carry their plain-words note from the books. Save the lines that matter to you and write about them in your own journal.

Who can see my journal?

Only you. Your journal entries and saved quotes are visible to you alone in the library, and deleting an entry removes it from your journal.

The books

What are A Year with the Muses and ’n Jaar met die Muse?

Two daily reader-journals of 365 days each: a verified voice for every day, the story behind it, one small practice and one free door into the arts. The English edition draws on the world’s voices; the Afrikaans edition entirely on our own literature. See A Year with the Muses and ’n Jaar met die Muse.

What format are the books, and what do they cost?

Each is a PDF ebook you can type into and save: the bottom of every page is yours. Each edition costs R249, or R149 for Salon members, and the Full House includes both. Your download link stays open for 30 days and 15 downloads, so save your copy safely.

Can I try a book first?

Yes. The first 31 days of either edition are free: leave your email on the book’s page and we send it to you.

Are the quotes real?

Every quote was checked, word for word, against its original public-domain source, and that source is printed with it. If a line could not be traced, it was left out, however famous.

Free to explore

What can I use for free?

Voices of the Muses (a daily voice and a fresh daily sample of the collection), the Afrikaans Kunsskat Verkenner, the ArtSmart IQ Challenge, the Muse Match profiler, and the free first month of either book.

Festivals, schools and institutions

Can we give ImagineArts to our people?

Yes. Editions are personalised daily readers in your own colours, with your photographs, your letter and each recipient’s name on every page, in English or Afrikaans. Tell us about your festival, school or institution.
