ImagineArts is built by Dr Alten du Plessis — wellbeing scientist, platform builder, and a proud newcomer to the arts.
Alten du Plessis has spent years building evidence-based wellbeing platforms — for students, runners, golfers and sports lovers — on the FlourishIQ platform University, where more than two thousand tools now serve thousands of members.
ImagineArts began differently from its sibling brands: with an admission. The arts were the dimension of a flourishing life its founder knew least. He could cite the evidence that they matter — and could not remember the last time he had given a painting fifteen unhurried minutes. So this brand was built the way he wished someone had built it for him: welcoming to newcomers, honest about the science, and structured so that appreciation is a skill anyone can grow. The full story is in his first reflection.
“Half of us are beginners — including, proudly, the founder.”
Senior academic and wellbeing scientist, teaching and researching wellbeing science — and insisting that every practice on this site names its evidence, and its limits. See The Evidence.
Creator of the FlourishIQ family of platforms and brands — hundreds of guided practice tools, courses and communities, built one careful room at a time.
ImagineArts’ first member, working through the same nine rooms as everyone else — Vermeer minutes, counter-melodies, Marcus Aurelius a few lines at a time.
ImagineArts stands alongside FlourishIQ, FlourishTalk, InspireWell4Life, RunWell4Life, GolfWell4Life and SportSmart4Life — one builder’s answer, brand by brand, to the same question: how do the good things in life become daily practices? The research foundation here draws on the Positive Humanities programme of Prof James Pawelski and colleagues (University of Pennsylvania) and the wider science of arts engagement and flourishing.
